Symbols & Signs? Discovering prehistoric phallic objects

The Bronze Age

Dr Anne Teather from the University of Chester, will discuss her recent research into the deposition of phallic artefacts discovered in a range of prehistoric sites. While female fighres are more prevalent in Europe, phallic forms emerge in the Mesolithic in Britain and continue into the Bronze Age. She will review the range of interpretations offered for these artifacts exploring possible reasons for their production and use.
