Captive breeding and reintroduction biology: Durrell’s experience with examples from Madagascar

The experiences of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in captive breeding and release into the wild in Madagascar.


Dr Glyn Young, conservation biologist at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, will talk about Durrell's work in captive breeding and release into the wild. Prof Young will illustrate his talk with many examples from Durrell's reintroduction work in Madagascar including the world's rarest bird (Madagascar pochard) and world's rarest tortoise (Madagascar ploughshare), both of which are currently the subject of successful Durrell breeding programmes.

The ticket price for the evening event includes a free bar and delicious Malagasy buffet. There will be a chance to chat with the speakers and mingle with others to chat about Madagascar before and after the lecture.
