Bethlem Hospital: Worth a Visit?

A free talk on the history of Bethlem Royal Hospital - or Bedlam, as it has often been known

A free talk in the Archives & Museum on the history of the Bethlem Royal Hospital, in particular the infamous public openings depicted in the well-known Hogarth image of Bedlam as the last scene of ‘Rake’s Progress’. Bethlem has moved between four different sites over the years, with corresponding changes in size and purpose. This talk explores the changes to the Hospital over the years.
