ID Crossing Borders 2012 – 27 Nov Julyen Hamilton and Jacky Lansley

Julyen Hamilton will be in conversation with Jacky Lansley, choreographer and performance artist who shared many of the formative contexts in the development of New Dance practice in the UK.

Julyen Hamilton will be in conversation with Jacky Lansley, choreographer and performance artist who shared many of the formative contexts in the development of New Dance practice in the UK. Julyen is one of Europe's foremost improvisers and has been teaching, performing and making work for 35 years. He is a key figure in the development of New Dance. This conversation will explore some of the practices and evolution within Julyen’s work and his current thinking as a choreographer and teacher.

Crossing Borders is a series of talks curated by Frank Bock, inviting UK and international practitioners whose work understands movement and embodiment through a variety of different forms. Art practice, neuroscience, somatics and curation underpin the many contexts where such explorations take place.

Crossing Borders has been organised in collaboration with the Graduate School of London Contemporary Dance School and Dance Umbrella. The series aims to offer fresh vantage points on artistic practice and environment, and feed in to current debates around the UK dance ecology.
