BBC British Isles: Exotic Birds

explore the exotic, native and reintroduced birds that have shaped Britain’s wildlife and our culture.

Birds have been colonising Britain for millions of years. Which of our current winged residents are natives, which are newcomers and which are return visitors? Is a new arrival always a good thing? To coincide with the BBC’s new series, The British Isles: A Natural History, zoologist Douglas Russell will explore the exotic, native and reintroduced birds that have shaped Britain’s wildlife and our culture.
