Britain’s Sexual Revolution-a talk by Dr Matt Cook

A talk on the sexual revolution of the late 1960s.

Galha, the LGBT section of the BHA presents a special meeting to mark the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia.

The period commonly associated with sexual revolution in Britain-roughly between 1965 and 1970-saw what the historian Hera Cook calls an "astonishing pace of change". This talk will underscore the significance of this half of the decade, but will also look across the full post-1945 period and look at this sexual revolution in a wider context.
The meeting will also report on activities around the world for IDAHO and particularly what is going on in London.
Galha is honoured to have Dr Matt Cook as a speaker, whose works on the history of sexuality and gender in ninetieth and twentieth century Britain is unparalleled.

Commenting on the announcement, BHA head of Education and Promotion Sara Passmore said: ‘Dr Matt’s talk about the sexual revolution of the late 1960s will explore just how rapid this change was. To mark this international day against homophobia and transphobia it is more than fitting that it should be marked by what promises to be a fascinating talk by Dr Matt Cook.’
