George Myerson: Hot coffee, so good: The past on a good day

A lecture exploring themes from George Myerson's current work on great cups of coffee and the History of Happiness.

King Alfred School is proud to present a lecture by George Myerson, author of "A Private History of "Happiness: 99 Moments of Joy from Around the World."

George Myerson has published widely on subjects ranging from existentialism to the history of football during WWI. He has taught English at Bristol and King's London where he currently holds a visiting senior research fellowship.

This talk will explore themes from his current research and his recent book, "A History of Happiness: 99 Moments of Joy from Around the World." Drawing on sources from Ptolemy to Tolstoy, Myerson finds small moments of bliss shared across centuries, from the luxury of a hot bath to sipping a good cup of coffee.

We will also hear material from Myerson's work in progress, a book about great cups of coffee and another about other people's cats and dogs.

Please join us at King Alfred School's Phoenix Theatre to hear George Myerson speak on Tuesday 14 January.
