The History of Doggerland: Europe's Lost Country

Far beneath the North Sea lies the lost land of Doggerland. Dr Vincent Gaffney discusses his research on this submerged world.

6000 years ago, the landmass that now lies underwater between Northern Scotland, Denmark and the Channel Islands was inhabited by a thriving Mesolithic hunter culture.

Archaeologist and 3D mapping specialist Dr Gaffney will share his research on this lost world and reveal how climate change is nothing new.

Professor Vincent Gaffney is Chair in Landscape Archaeology and Geomatics and Director of the Visual and Spatial Technology Centre (VISTA).

See http://www.vista.bham.ac.uk for more about Dr Gaffney's fascinating research work.

King Alfred Academic Lectures are open to the public. Please join us at 3:10-4:00, Tuesday 11 March in the Old Library to hear this talk.
