Berlin-based Tel Aviv artist Ariel Reichman discusses his varied practice following his first UK solo show.

Berlin-based Tel Aviv artist Ariel Reichman discusses his varied practice following his first UK solo show at Waterside Contemporary, Who distinguishes between light and dark, 2014. Working in the fields of photography, film, performance, drawing, sculpture and installation, Reichman’s work examines subjective memories, daily rituals and fantasies, considering the ways in which intimacy can help explain the political.

Ariel Reichman (b. 1979, Johannesburg) studied at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem and at Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) in the class of Hito Steyerl. Forthcoming solo presentations include Frieze New York / Frame with PSM Berlin, 2014. Recent solo exhibitions include: Who distinguishes between light and dark, Waterside Contemporary, London, 2014; 1200 kg dirt, Petah Tikva Museum, Israel, 2013; I am sorry Felix, but we are just too scared to fly, PSM Berlin, 2013; and Legal Settlement, Program, Berlin, 2009.
