Family History: Understanding Civil Registration - A  Registrars View

Are you trying to decipher complicated family structures? Do find some of your ancestors seem to be missing? Join us for Antony Marr's talk on interpreting certificates of birth, marriage and death.

As family history researchers we look at certificates of birth, marriage and death every day – but do we always interpret them correctly? Antony Marr, a former registrar, looks at the complex rules surrounding the registration of these vital events, including declarations, corrections and re-registrations. Using examples, Antony aims to dispel some myths and misunderstandings and show how understanding the process can help decipher complex families and find those elusive missing ancestors.
