Saturday Evening Lecture Series 2015

Allan Little
'A Witness to War'

The BBC’s Special Correspondent Allan Little will share some of his compelling experiences of reporting from war zones.

Born and raised in Galloway and educated at Edinburgh University, Allan will reflect on the business of reporting the news from fast moving and unpredictable places. Much of his career has been spent bearing witness to war and political and social upheaval. It has given him the opportunity to see the damage that war does not only physically but mentally. He has often reported on UK servicemen and women in action both as peace-keepers and war-fighters, and has come to believe that it is vital that there should be the support for those who need it in what
can be a very difficult transition back to peace time and ordinary life.

Allan is no stranger to the impact war has on the lives of those who put themselves on the line for our country. Having covered conflicts across the globe for almost 30 years, he has reported from more than 60 countries.
