Julian Bird, Executive Producer of the Olivier Awards and CEO of the Society of London Theatre and the UK Theatre Association, tells the story of the renaissance of the most coveted awards ceremony in the British theatre calendar named in honour of the legendary actor and advocate for the arts Sir Laurence Olivier.

To coincide with Julian's lecture a special exhibition of iconic black and white photographs from The Peto Collection, held by the University Archives, will be displayed. The exhibition will feature some of the leading lights in British theatre during the 1950s and 1960s including Vanessa
Redgrave, John Gielgud, Ian McKellen, Alan Bennett and Jonathan Miller.
