Frozen in Time - the whys & wherefores of still life painting

For some 400 years still life has been the staple of western art

This lavishly illustrated slide lecture by Adrian Sumner looks at the 'Nature Morte' genre from the fruit & flowers potboilers of Caravaggio to the star productions of Cubism, via Chardin, the Impressionists and the Spanish baroque masters, and the Dutch painters of the Golden Age.
