A lecture on the Restoration of Shakespeare’s Garden

Sir Roy Strong will talk about the history and restoration of Shakespeare's Garden

Join the National Gardens Scheme for what promises to be a fascinating and entertaining evening, led by an eminent garden historian and legendary museum curator who has been hailed as 'a national treasure'.

This year marks the opening of the renovated New Place in Statford-upon-Avon, its garden tracing the remains of Shakespeare's original house. Almost 100 years ago this same site saw the first attempt to recreate the type of garden the bard would have known. It is still there today and is an early landmark in garden re-creation.
