The Finest Beards in the Ladybird Archive

Jason Hazeley and Joel Morris, authors of the Ladybird Books For Grown-Ups, guddle in the publisher’s vaults in search of fabulous facial hair.

Jason Hazeley and Joel Morris, authors of the Ladybird Books For Grown-Ups, guddle in the publisher’s vaults in search of fabulous facial hair. From Arctic explorers to Victorian A-listers, from Marconi to Michaelangelo, from The Crooked Man to Christ, the Ladybird archive has a rich array of beards – some handsome, some unkempt, and some just plain alarming. Trigger warning: some of the images may revivify childhood nightmares. Especially if you owned any of the Nursery Rhyme books published in the mid-1960s.

Admission price for all talks is £8.00 (Members of the Florence Nightingale Museum FREE, Guy’s and St Thomas’ staff FREE) and includes a glass of wine and a chance to view the museum.
