Taking an in-depth look at Osterley House, one of Robert Adam's famous London country houses, this intimate and informal talk will offer you the chance to see original Adam drawings up close, while the Soane's curator discusses their significance. Then, take a tour of the exhibition Robert Adam's London to discover key objects and some surprising Adam projects from across the capital.
About Osterley House
Once described by Horace Walpole as 'the palace of palaces', Osterley was created in the late 18th century by architect and designer Robert Adam for the Child family to entertain and impress their friends and clients. Adam’s best known intervention at Osterley is his insertion of the great open double portico in the east range, however, the interiors are equally ingenious. The state apartment is particularly pleasing and has three rooms designed sequentially in the French, English and Italian styles.
