Catalysis in chemistry and biochemistry (discussion meeting)

On the activation of simple molecules for some heterogeneous – homogeneous – and enzymatic - catalytic reactions.


The activation of simple molecules (dihydrogen, dinitrogen, dioxygen, carbon monoxide and carbon-hydrogen bonds) will be discussed for some heterogeneous – homogeneous – and enzymatic - catalytic reactions. Substantial evidence, from experimental and theoretical studies, is defining reaction intermediates and transition states and the clarification of reaction profiles promises advances in certain specific, including enantioselective reactions. Some developments in the evolution of catalysts for environmentally benign processes, based on new technologies will also be discussed.
