The Silk Road to Success: Making It by Design

The many successes achieved by British Asians in all areas of our creative industries are too little known. Be inspired by listening
to some of the brightest talents around.
Shekhar Kapur - Director of Elizabeth, The Bandit Queen and
The Four Feathers (appearance subject to filming commitments)
Imtaz Khaliq - Named by Cosmopolitan as one of the four top tailors in London
Damini Kumar - Up-and-coming designer and inventor of the
non-drip teapot

Part of a season of panel discussions about Asian Business and Creativity in Britain Today in the Conference Centre.

Asian food, culture, design and products have never been more popular in Britain. How did this ‘Asian revolution’ come about? Why are Asian entrepreneurs, designers and artists so influential in Britain today? And how can British firms tap into the increasingly affluent Asian market?

If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur with good ideas, hear leading players reveal the secrets of their success. Take the opportunity to put your questions to the panellists.

The discussions will be chaired by Ms. Parminder Vir, Head of Diversity at Carlton Television and Adam Shaw, presenter of BBC2’s Working Lunch.

A drinks reception and a private view of the Silk Road exhibition will follow each event. This is included in the price.

“These events will inspire and motivate young British entrepreneurs - both within the Asian community and outside. I encourage all Londoners to support this programme.”
Atma Singh, Policy Adviser - Asian Affairs Mayor’s Office
Greater London Authority
