I Hate Nature

Martha Schwartz on the exuberant, witty but also intellectually rigorous approach she takes to her work.

Internationally acclaimed landscape designer and artist Martha Schwartz has worked on public and private projects from New Mexico to Minneapolis to Manchester. Known for her bold use of form, unusual materials and dramatic colour, Schwartz’s work defies conventional definitions of nature and landscape. Her choice of a deliberately provocative title for this lecture reflects the exuberant, witty but also intellectually rigorous approach she takes to her work.
