The Sex Package

Sex is packaged as a commodity and a means to fulfilment. We all believe we have a right to, and can learn to have, great sex. But in focusing on the 'mechanics' of good sex do we forget about the perhaps more important psychological complexities?

Does today's preoccupation with sex, including graphic how-to guides, trivialise it, making it little more than titillation? Anxiety around sex is on the increase, and more and more people are seeking sex therapy. Or have we been liberated by the belief that sex is no more than fun? Speakers: Em and Lo, columnists for Nerve.com and the Guardian, and authors of the encyclopaedic sex guide, The Big Bang; Peter Howarth, former editor of Esquire; and Brett Kahr, Senior Lecturer in Psychotherapy, Regent's College and author of a forthcoming book on sexual fantasies. In the chair: deputy comment editor at the Guardian, Libby Brooks.
