Heroism in War

Exploring 150 years of the Victoria Cross

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross, this study morning explores heroism and the naval heroes awarded Britain’s highest gallantry medal. It examines the international conflicts in which they were involved, from the Crimean War - for which the NMM holds the first Victoria Cross ever awarded - to the Indian Mutiny and the two World Wars. There will be a special introduction to the Victoria Cross display at the Museum
