Representing the North: from 'Likely Lads' to 'Roots'

This talk will consider how the North of England, and particularly the Tyne-Wear region, has been represented in a range of media output.


This talk will consider how the North of England, and particularly the Tyne-Wear region, has been represented in a range of media output. Taking as our starting point the early days of television, the discussion will consider the forms and texts which have been used in the depiction of the cultural life of the region.
