Freedom & slavery in Roman Bath

This is the first in our series of talks to commemorate the 200th annivesary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.

What did words like Slavery and Freedom mean in Roman Bath? What rights did you have and what could you expect if you were slave or free? This lecture looks at some of the pros and cons, drawing on direct evidence from Roman Bath and from the wider Roman world.
