Freedom of Expression in Africa

Democracy and social development in Africa depends on the implementation of the Declarations in the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the Declaration of Principles on Freedom of Expression agreed to by African governments. Ms. Pansy Tlakula was appointed Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression at the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Commission in December 2005 to promote adoption of the declarations and principles.

Join the Commissioner Pansy Tlakula, Special Rapporteur of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights for a dialogue on the state of Freedom of Expression in African countries and her role in broadening access to information.
