From Runaways to Revolts: Slave Resistance in the Americas

Slaves resisted slavery in a variety of different ways.


This lecture will provide an overview of the subject: it will look at forms of passive resistance and slaves who ran away from slavery as well as more violent acts of resistance.

Gad Heuman is Professor of History and has served as Director of the Centre for Caribbean Studies at the University of Warwick. He is the author and editor of several books on Caribbean history, including most recently, The Caribbean (2006), published by Hodder Arnold.
