Simon Schama. Changing Britain: Slavery, Abolition and Empire

Simon Schama’s lecture will draw from his book on slavery, ‘Rough Crossings’. It is the gripping epic of the struggle for freedom by tens of thousands of African slaves in America who fled the plantations to fight and die for the British the American War of Independence. The television version will be transmitted on bbc2 at 9pm on Friday the 29th of March.
Oona King is a former Labour MP, and the chair of Tower Hamlets Advocacy Network and Community Support.
