Robin Cook Europe Debate – Globalisation: What role for Europe?


Whether it is the fear of outsourcing and job losses to China and India, the impact of climate change or the rising pressures of migration flows, globalisation is at the centre of the political debate in Europe. Is the European Union in its current form more of a hindrance than a help in addressing these questions? Should Europe adopt policies of economic protectionism of trade liberalisation? Is the idea of European integration even relevant when global integration has advanced so far?
