'Community of Practice: a long term view of a buzzword'

Inaugural Lecture

The concept of the "community of practice" began in narrow obscurity but, once taken up by business schools, became one of those buzzwords everyone has an opinion on. Having worked with the concept since its inception, I will take the opportunity of this lecture to reflect both on the concept itself, and more generally the way in which, for better or for worse, concepts like this are appropriated to diverse ends.
