The Red Hand Gang: Surgeons in Georgian England. A lecture by Simon Chaplin, Director of Museums & Special Collections at the Royal College of Surgeons of England


Bloody operations, gruesome dissections and vicious arguments characterised the practice of surgery in Georgian England. Discover how the surgeons salvaged their dire reputation, transforming themselves from a 'useless and wretched' company to a Royal College through science, skill and some careful spin!
