A look at the life of William Adams, the first Briton to reach Japan.
The Japan Foundation presents a talk looking at the life and times of William Adams, the first Briton to reach Japan and his influence on Japan - UK relations. Adams became a key advisor to the Shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and was key in the promotion of trade between the UK and Japan.
Speaking at the Japan Foundation will be Michio Henmi, resident priest at the Jodoji temple in Yokosuka City, the Adams' family temple.
