Cultures of Commemoration: War Memorials Ancient and Modern (day 1 of 2)

This inter-disciplinary conference offers an important opportunity to explore cultural responses to the commemoration of war dead, ranging from the Greek and Roman civilisations to the practices of the more recent past.


The conference will bring together experts working on Vietnam, the two World Wars of the twentieth century, post-revolutionary France, nineteenth-century England, Imperial Rome, the Hellenistic World, and Ancient Greece.
