A lecture on folk belief, superstitions and tales from the Malay archipelago. Janina Bas grew up with these, and relates the stories, descriptions and remedies which are part of the culture and which made up a part of the social fabric of her youth. Cross-cultural vampirism, demonology, 'witch-doctors', pop culture and daily folk magic -- all are highlighted in this talk from a vibrant, intelligent and personable speaker.
