Pheromones and Sex: Success of the Smelliest?

Explore the mystery of pheromones

In his book Sexual Selection, Charles Darwin wrote "during the season of love, a musky odour is emitted by ... the crocodile". Dr Tristram Wyatt explains how all kinds of animals, from dogs, elephants, moths, to goldfish, use pheromones to find mates for sex. He will also discuss the mystery surrounding human pheromones.

Tristram Wyatt is author of Pheromones and Animal Behaviour (2003), Cambridge University Press.
