Incense Magic Day

Suffumigations, Resins and Transcendence. £55 including teas, light refreshments, handouts and samples.

11 am to 5.30 pm

Incense is central to magical and religious practice, and this day is dedicated to exploring it experientially.

In particular, it is dedicated to the scent-producing resins that form the bases of all Western magical incenses: myrrh, frankincense, copal -- all these magical gums to conjure with. There will be meditations, sniffings, lucid dreamings, and of course, ritualised smoulderings. There will also be some incense-divination, with scrying in the smoke. You will work with the ingredients yourself, in a personalised way, so you will go home with a deeper understanding of their use in magic, their 'personalities', and how you can incorporate them into your personal practice. Each person will take home a sampler of the scents worked with during the day, as well as a notebook and handouts.

Paul Wood is a co-ownder of Wood-Moss Herbals, and is a longstanding and impassioned lover of incense, potions and plant alchemy. He has been teaching courses at Treadwell's for three years.
