Intrigued by the possibilities of the image in the digital age, Tim Hetherington has evolved a documentary practice that both harnesses and looks beyond the still photograph. He will discuss and share his diverse work, ranging from visual communication and digital projection to fly-poster exhibitions and handheld device downloads.
Tim Hetherington was this year's winner of the Sundance Film Festival Documentary Award for Restrepo, a film about US soldiers in Afghanistan. This is a second major win for Hetherington as he won World Press Photo of the Year in 2007 for his picture of an exhausted soldier resting after a day of heavy fighting at the Restrepo outpost.
