On the Soul in the Platonic Tradition

The Art of Soul Life: Psyche and Eros

This lecture will look at the response of the wise men and women of the Platonic tradition to the view that the soul is immortal and has a path to follow which embraces the inner and outer worlds, the heights and depths of the universe. We will consider philosophy as the love of wisdom, and its consequent development of arete – or the excellences of the soul – together with the “greatest discipline”, the pursuit of the Good.
