Title: The Circuitous Route: Chance, Information and Geography
Abstract: Retired lecturer Alan Burnett runs the News From Nowhere Blog, the mission statement of which is 'never to go in a straight line when a circuitous route is available'. Alan will examine the way that chance can provide new insights in an information-rich world and share the results of his latest project, 'West Yorkshire in 10 Squares'. http://newsfromnowhere1948.blogspot.com/

From the main entrance, go straight on past the front desk, then through the doors on the left. Follow the corridor round to the right and then to the left. At the end of the corridor on your right take the lift to the second floor (West) or go up 5 short flights of stairs. The Miall Lecture Theatre (2.34) is straight opposite the lift.
