Lansdown Lecture: Get Lost - the true potential of location-based media

Perhaps we should use location-sensitive devices to wander and explore in a delightful and serendipitous way...

From satnav to Foursquare, location-based apps have been about locating yourself relative to landmarks, traffic or other people. But there is an alternative idea that may turn out to be more compelling - for location apps to enhance your ability to wander and explore in a delightful and serendipitous way. In short, to lose yourself. This talk will explore ideas being developed at Kew and elsewhere - including Kew's mobile apps for visitors, and the wild flower identification service using image recognition and location.
