From Lamplighters to Puttymakers: the Story of the London Tradecard

Free Lunchtime lecture by Librarian and Archivist Jeremy Smith and Sharon Tuff

A free lunchtime talk. Lamplighters and Puttymakers are just two of the many trades operating in the Shoe Lane area in the 19th century. The trade card collection at the London Metropolitan Archive (LMA) is an amazing resource for the history of London. As well as being useful for tracing businesses in the local area these items can reveal insights into changes in decorative styles. Librarian and Archivist Jeremy Smith and Sharon Tuff will be here to talk about the collection held at LMA.
