RSA Lecture: Privacy in an open world

A panel will consider what needs to be done to ensure secure foundations and systems for the information society of the 21st century.

Privacy in an open world: Who wants to know? Why should they know it? Who cares?

Panel includes: Richard Thomas, Information Commissioner, Stephen Deadman, Executive Solicitor, Vodafone, Anna Fielder, Senior Policy Advisor, National Consumer Council and Gus Hosein, Privacy International

Chaired by Ian Walden, Professor of Information and Communication Law, Queen Mary, University of London

At a significant moment in the public debate over privacy and data protection, as levels of e-commerce and e-government continue to rise, and the issue of national ID cards becomes ever more pressing, we will gather together a panel of experts from government, industry and civil society, to consider what needs to be done to ensure secure foundations and systems for the information society of the 21st century.

Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions.
