Mike Thelwall, Statistical Cybermetrics Research Group, University of Wolverhampton will describe how large scale analyses of the social web can yield insights into its use and patterns of communication amongst users


This talk will describe how large scale analyses of the social web can yield insights into its use and patterns of communication amongst users. Case studies of Twitter posts and YouTube comments will reveal how large scale data sets can be obtained quite easily and how to investigate them. One of the methods demonstrated will be sentiment analysis, which allows researchers to gain important insights into the affective dimension of technology use.
