Independent Dance presents a series of talks with artists and academics whose particular practice has led them beyond narrow disciplinary boundaries.
Expanding the Frame
âWe are in continuous movement, acting upon and responding to our environment. It is the means through which we learn, make sense of, and create new meanings within the world of which we are a part.â
Dance artists are increasingly tuning their attention to the sensing of movement as it unfolds in the moment as a resource for their own art-making. Gill Clarke will explore how their investigations chime with developing interests in other fields, particularly the social sciences. and will argue that this movement expertise is a currency that could be making a broader cultural contribution beyond resourcing the art work that they make.
