How hard can it be to save one small lark from extinction in a big place like Ethiopia?

The Liben Lark can it be saved in time to prevent Africa’s first mainland bird extinction?

How hard can it be to save one small lark from extinction in a big place like Ethiopia? Classified as Critically Endangered, the highest level of threat, and with fewer than 100 birds remaining, the Liben Lark was thrown a potential lifeline thanks to funds raised by the British Birdwatching Fair in August 2010. The Ethiopian Wildlife and Natural History Society is now working with local communities to reduce the impact of over-grazing livestock and prevent conversion of the land to arable farming. Whether or not this conservation action will be in time to prevent Africa’s first mainland bird extinction remains to be seen.
