PSYCHOGEOGRAPHY TALK: Body Space Imagination by Gerry Turvey
Tuesday December 6th, 5.15pm, University of Leeds
Gerry Turvey is a choreographer based in Leeds. Her work is concerned with space, time and image, generating performances in unusual spaces. Often responding to the urban landscape, Gerry uses the juxtaposition of bodies to create unusual images in familiar places. Her work uses the body as a site, and the body in sites, establishing a relationship to architecture and the environment. In this talk she will show and discuss some of the work she has created, while illustrating the considerations required for working in different spaces. Gerry will demonstrate how to create meaning and enhance journeys at these sites through the use of physical intervention. www.turveyworld.co.uk
