Department of International History annual lecture
This talk will focus on Israel's "iron wall" strategy of dealing with the Arabs from a position of unassailable military strength, and how this strategy was applied by
successive prime ministers.
Avi Shlaim is professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford. His
books include 'The Iron Wall: Israel and the Arab world' (2000); and 'Israel and Palestine: reappraisals, revisions, refutations' (2009).
