As part of January SLAM LAST Fridays:
evening viewing and artists talk 6-9pm with Bankside Afterparty âtil late
Investigating themes of indigenous culture, capitalist meltdown, patriotism and global politics, influential Norwegian artist Svein Flygari Johansen connects imagery from the organic world with high technology: Materials range from water, sticks and stones, Ammonium Sulphate and bacteria to sophisticated computer programming.
The artistâs talk unpacks the technology behind the works in Am I making up what really happened?
Code for all Flygari's digital works is written by Jonny Bradley with whom he has collaborated since 2001. Exhibition robotics by David Buckley.
This event forms part of the South London Art Map LAST Fridays (http://www.southlondonartmap.com/). Beaconsfield hosts the Bankside Afterparty with bar and music until late.
With live performance from Metamono at 9pm
Metamonoâs technopop combineâs the art house with the mosh pit, making purely electronic music which rejects digital technology. Their instinctive, improvised compositions are created using a selection of pre-used, borrowed and handbuilt vintage analogue synths and ring modulators, enhanced by the ethereal sounds of a theremin, a siren and a valve radio.
Following the release of their new record on 23 January, Metamono will join us for an intimate performance. Look out for the upcoming review in MOJO. http://www.metamono.co.uk/
