John Hargrave & The Kibbo Kift Movement

John Hargrave was an extraordinary man; artist, cartoonist, Boy Scout Commissioner, author, inventor and psychic healer, his achievements in all these fields were remarkable, but he will be best remembered as 'White Fox' leader of the Kibbo Kift Kindred. This non-political 'camping, handicraft and world peace movement' was launched in 1920; but after twelve years transformed itself to become the Green Shirts, "the green clad shock-troopers of the peoples' fighting front", the largest uniformed, paramilitary political army of '30's Britain. Hargrave and the Kibbo Kift are now strangely little-known, but they are ripe for re-discovery.
