CANCELLED: Lady Reid Lecture – Franklin and the Bankers

House historian and Franklin scholar, Lady Joan Reid, will uncover Franklin’s far reaching views on America’s monetary system.


In The Nature and Necessity of a Paper-Currency (1729) Benjamin Franklin noted, “Banks are the general Cashiers of all Gentleman, Merchants and great Trader… And the Bankers always [reserve] Money in hand to answer more than the common Run of Demands…”. House historian and Franklin scholar, Lady Joan Reid, will uncover Franklin’s far reaching views on America’s monetary system.
