Launch of 2012 Audit of Political Engagement

To mark the launch of the 2012 Audit of Political Engagement, the Hansard Society will be hosting a FREE event in Parliament with an expert panel, including the authors themselves, who will explain their findings and highlight some of the important questions this year's Audit raises.

Panellists

  • Dr Ruth Fox - Director of Parliament & Government, Hansard Society, and co-author of Audit 9
  • Matt Korris - Research Fellow, Hansard Society, and co-author of Audit 9
  • Professor Gerry Stoker - Professor of Governance, University of Southampton

Chair: Fiona Booth - Chief Executive, Hansard Society

Now in its ninth year, the Hansard Society’s annual Audit of Political Engagement has been gauging the political pulse of the nation through some of the most testing times in recent political history. Since the expenses scandal in 2009 public perceptions of the political process have taken a steep downward turn and, as the 2012 Audit shows, the past year has certainly not diverged from this trend.

This event will explore in detail the multitude of questions raised by this year's Audit, focusing on what these figures mean for politics and democracy in the UK.
