In the first of our lectures accompanying the first archaeological dig at York Guildhall, Kate Giles (BA, MA, PhD, York) a buildings archaeologist with a specialism in the recording, archival research and theoretical interpretation of historic buildings, will be giving a talk about the York Guildhalls.
As Director of the MA in Archaeology of Buildings at the University of York, and York Minster Archaeology Research Fellow, Kate is passionate about the potential of buildings archaeology and history to enhance understanding of the significance of historic buildings, and to inform their management, interpretation and display to the wider public, and this is sure to be an illuminating talk on a very apt subject matter in this 800th year of the freedom of the city.
